Please don’t get me wrong.

I’m not a gloom and doom kind of person.  I believe Irish is correct when he said a 10 fold return on investment in human sharing and compassion.  I believe there is more goodness in this world which is in dire need of coming forth…it is there…just needs to be made apparent.

I’m an observer…and thinkin’ we are in for a show which will test character and strength beyond the boundaries of the past 2 generations…AuDept and the people involved have given a venue of communication which enables many to benefit from each other’s perception and experience.

It is a gift…and appreciated.

Arch

Seems the expat and wannabe expat crowd will always be dug-in to their perceived “paradise” or paradise minus.

IMO, you have brought up some good devil’s advocate POVs regarding Belize.

I admit, I’m biased to Chile and have bad things to say about Argentina, tropical South America generally and especially Central America. Just because someplace speaks English doesn’t make it suddenly two steps above other places that from all other objective measures are superior from a long-term survival perspective.

–EIC posting IMOs just to let you know you are not shouting and questioning in the dark.

Questions !!

I think Arch is bringing up good questions, but in an almost alarmist way about things that aren’t happening but maybe could. I think we should think everything through and be prepared when we move down there.  I want this to be a discussion and not an argument.

I think there is a tendency to get contentious here sometimes, especially on a day when PM’s are down, and it is unnecessary. I value opposing views and learn from the dialogue and I’d like to stress the point that we need to always strive for dialogue without little digs like “I guess you have all the answersHumanoid” !! I don’t, but I am trying to get as many as I can.

Today was an UP day, so in the noble words of Rodney king, “Can’t we all just get along??!!!!!”

Tomorrow I will pick up the medical equipment from storage and ship to the chairman on Monday. I really look forward to the day I can meet those that run the clinic…hopefuly we will make a trip to Belize in the early spring after my new knee heals. If you are planning a trip early 2008, let me know as I would like to meet you while we are there. Mrs S and I are erady to get a little sand in our shoes and check it out. I have a lot of questions for The Irish Trailblazer.

Arch is just pullin yer leg. I saw what he etched in the wood wall of room 7 at Parrot;s cove. “Arch was here…..and he’ll be back”.

Life is bittersweet, Yen and Yang, for each happiness there must be an unhappiness for balance.. Yes, there will be much to be depressed and concerned about in the times to come.
Still, we do what we can to protect and provide for ourselves and our families and hopefully spread a little hope and joy to others along the way as we are able. I fear what the future holds for us as a nation and I try to do my small part to warn of dangers coming our way, but I cannot wallow in gloom and doom always. I believe it is also important to maintain a sense of humor, to enjoy the small victories, and have faith that the future can be bright for those of us who understand what is unfolding and plan (or planned) for it.

You are one crazy son of a gun.

Factsmatter has a point though.Danger and turmoil are out there. But, I sit here thinking about what this group did for a bunch of children in Belize. And without sounding corny we may have just got a taste of the big guy upstairs returning unselfish giving by 10 fold. And what we do for each other cannot ever be taken away from us. Not by Goldman S not by CDO/s not by anything made by man. When we formed as a group last spring and stuck together in the beginning well,in my mind, that is the time we went over 1650 per ounce. Not when the Comex ticker says it.
It was a wonderful day to boost our material wealth but we have already attained a level of self actualization that few,so very few,can ever realize. And of that we should be proud.

ARCH: What IF……………….

I am not saying that Belize or any other country is immune from every possible threat in a dangerous world. I just think they are safer than most any place I can think of right NOW. We can play WHAT IF with any place in the world. The situation IS that they are growing nicely, speak English, have a British parliamentary system and legal system, have no enemies, are too small and isolated and don’t have enough goodies to be the target of anything. Their primarily agrarian economy will feed the people in a worldwide financial meltdown in a world where food is getting scarce and prices will not recede. There’s racial peace and no revolutionary zeal, and the people are generous, happy, friendly and speak English.

What is here is that we have lost our bill of rights, our economy is about to crash, we have many enemies and are a prime target of terrorism, the people here are so materialistic and aggressive, they scream at you and want to fight if you slow them down in traffic and when hard times come, they will be violent and greedy. It costs a fortune to live here and as the dollar crashes it will get worse and taxes are intolerable and will get worse, etc, etc.

So I am looking for a simpler, affordable, peaceful, fun, place to go and Belize has an awesome climate - physically and socially NOW. If something changes in the future, I will have to leave, but there is NO INDICATION of that NOW that I can see. I value your devil’s advocate role because I can be too optimistic and need to look before I leap !! I just looked a little and was overwhelmed positively with what I saw !!!!  BIGTIME !!!  As is, I would move there and make friends with both natives and the new folks who have come from the States for all the above reasons - like the Chairman who was in Chicago and California for 23 years and chooses to stay in Belize and is the patron of our group. The idea of a little community of US GOLDBUGS and having intelligent stimulating friends, a support group, an investment group and brain trust, genius in alternative health, alternative energy, etc is VERY VERY EXCITING TO ME  and if nobody can come up with anything better than far-fetched “WHAT IF’S”  or tell me a better alternative, I think it’s my best choice in a F******  UP world.

Arch, is it gonna be better here?? Can you suggest a better place than Belize ??? I’m am honestly open to comment and reconsideration.

The Future of Fiat & Banks?

That almost looked identical to the World Trade Center Twin Towers.    Imagine that.

Dusty - thanks, yes, we are well. glad to see you posting and having a

good time. Between the rush of gains and the “deer in the headlights” from Sinclair’s postings, trying to figure out how to enjoy this weekend!!! Another 10% gain and the debt starts peeling off. Wish I had more cash :) :) By the time I am able to buy more ifzz we’ll be north of $1K and over $25 on silver. sigh. Enjoyed a good bottle of wine tonite with the wife…she whipped up a terrific dinner. Enoy the coin show!!!

Slabs of…?

While all you fools have been collecting slabbed collectible coins, and gold plated base metal collectible coins… I have cornered the market and accumulated a terminal load of gold-foil covered chocolate coins. When the great chocolate confiscation occurs (said to be early next year), you won’t be able to eat your price-suppressed ‘paper cocoa’ futures. Do you know how much real gold a woman will give up for a taste of chocolate once it is contraband??  No bullion stash will be safe, it will be mine… all mine!

BWAAhaahaahaahahaha

It is good to celebrate…A feeling of relief…yet a sense of concern over the process unraveling before our eyes.

I’m hoping we can still celebrate after the fire and smoke have cleared.  That will be the measure of success.

I’ll say it again and again,”What an Outfit”

“O Gold! I still prefer thee unto paper, which makes bank credit like a bark of vapour.” Lord Byron

Some thought I was crazy when i bought gold at US320, some when I bought more at 412, more at 440, and they were certain when I bought at 642. Will they be convinced of my insanity when I buy more at 800?? I really could care less. Enjoying a little Grand Marnier tonight in celebration.
