Russia launches first naval power build-up in the Mediterranean in response to the US about-face on IranPresident Vladimir Putin and defense minister Anatoly Serdyukov decided to send a sortie of six Russian warships, led by the Admiral Kuznetsov aircraft carrier and the Moskva guided missile cruiser, to the Mediterranean. This will be the first prolonged stay of a Russian carrier to the eastern Mediterranean vicinity of Israel’s shores and waters patrolled by the US Sixth Fleet. On its decks are 47 warplanes and 10 helicopters. The Moskva is the Russian Navy’s Black Sea flagship.

“….the gold and silver miners remain pretty small in market-cap terms compared to the general stock markets. All 34 GDX components added together only had a market capitalization near $163b earlier this week. To get perspective, Google’s market cap alone ran around $220b! And as of the end of last month, the entire S&P 500 had a market cap of $13,369b which utterly dwarfs the gold stocks.
Thus the gold-stock sector only weighs in at the equivalent of something like 1.2% of the broader US stock markets. This is one key reason why gold stocks will skyrocket when the public gets enamored with them. This sector is just too small to accept a flood of new capital. And as the HUI is already up nearly 1200% in its bull at this stage despite being totally ignored by the mainstreamers, imagine where it will go when the mainstream inevitably starts getting interested in chasing this stellar performance.”

“I doubt the government will be sending a 100K check to every household.”
They already are/ have been. Credit cards to all. “Check loans” in the mail- all you have to do is to sign the check. Wanka’s free float to max out the credit card with no interest for 9 months. And as the foreigners get sick of the dollar, a tsunami of US Dollars will flood back to shore.

To have hyperinflation a bubble is required, is it not? You have to have a way of getting fiat into the system. I doubt the government will be sending a 100K check to every household. Many of the deflationist argue that gold is not money and it will be treated as a commodity in a deflationary period. In a deflationary event fiat looks to flow into the safer of the asset classes. I am of the opinion that gold is the safest of all asset classes as in Exter’s pyramid.

“After BUST, comes currency depreciation which moves the “bubble” into real money (= gold)……………. gold just tracks the collapsing currency.”That is not true if we are facing stagflation as in the 70’s. In fact, it was very untrue.

at least something I hadn’t heard him say before. He buys every $10 down in gold and sells every $20 up. At least there’s a guideline of sorts for traders. Could do that with GLD too I suppose.
Then he said 97% of his followers will be too stupid to sell when he says to at $1650 or whenever (I’m assuming that’s his meaning).
Ment17 - is that your take?

drives the same car as the ment
On your car question, I completed a lease on a Volvo S80 T. At completion I called Volvo credit and bid the wholesale bid for the car, $10,000 below the buy out. Guess what? They sold it to me. They will only wholesale it themselves and therefore the chance to buy it out at a wholesale bid is REAL.
