Went to the grocery, a Kroger, today and am still in shock. One, that is 1, honeydew melon was $6.49, one cantalope $2.99, eggs up 55% a dozen in 6 weeks. This is in central Kentucky..not NYC. Who will pay 6.49 for a honeydew?? Food prices are getting the attention of the masses. Just glad I live in the country and have firepower to protect my food supply! It’s gonna get real ugly

Equiz & the Dentist

Still laughing.
You sure you’re not poking at a ”Certain” Dental type who visits here all the time?

I had a Doctor long time back who was like that Dentist. Since we were both doing similar things, we’d talk for an hour. He had his so called “Junk Investment” portfolio, mostly penny stuff that he would rave about.

Dunno’ if that folio ever made him much, but he was on the computer half the time of an office visit. One I sort of remember him talking about was Princeton…..something or other.

Probably should go look up anything by that name and see if he Retired Rich before Medical Socialism took over.

Irish — thought you should be holding a Belize flag!

Hi ment..Thanks for the reply

I am in agree’ment’ with all you said.

I am having a personal battle with self. On one hand I am sooooo disgusted with the sleeping masses, wanting them to wake up to the ‘real’ inflation we are having and to protect themselves with real assets and hence, get this boom underway. At the same time, I want prices to stay low so I have more time to acquire my share. Wo is me!! (G) Patience dummy, Patience

I should not complain about a stealth market, both of my ozs have done very well for me!!

Best to you
Dusty

Chavez urges withdrawals from U.S. banks

By IAN JAMES, Associated Press Writer Sat Jan 26, 1:21 PM ET

CARACAS, Venezuela - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez urged his Latin American allies on Saturday to begin withdrawing billions of dollars in international reserves from U.S. banks, warning of a looming U.S. economic crisis.

Chavez made the suggestion as he hosted a summit aimed at boosting Latin American integration and rolling back U.S. influence.

“We should start to bring our reserves here,” Chavez said. “Why does that money have to be in the north? … You can’t put all your eggs in one basket.”

Chavez noted that U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice visited Colombia in recent days, saying “that has to do with this summit.”

“The empire doesn’t accept alternatives,” Chavez told the gathering, attended by the presidents of Bolivia and Nicaragua and Cuban Vice President Carlos Lage.

Chavez warned that U.S. “imperialism is entering into a crisis that can affect all of us” and said Latin America “will save itself alone.”

To help pool resources within the region, Chavez and other leaders were setting up a new development bank at the summit of the Bolivarian Alternative for the Nations of Our America, or ALBA.

The left-leaning regional trade alliance first proposed by Chavez is intended to offer an alternative, socialist path to integration while snubbing U.S.-backed free-trade deals.

Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega joined Chavez in his criticism of U.S.-style capitalism, saying “the dictatorship of global capitalism … has lost control.” Three days earlier, Ortega had shouted “Long live the U.S. government” as he inaugurated an American-financed section of highway in his country.

On Saturday, Chavez welcomed the Caribbean island of Dominica into ALBA, joining Nicaragua, Bolivia and Cuba. Attending as observers were the prime ministers of Antigua and Barbuda and St. Vincent and the Grenadines, along with officials from Ecuador, Honduras, Haiti and St. Kitts and Nevis.

The ALBA Bank is to be started with $1 billion to US$1.5 billion of capital, Venezuelan Finance Minister Rafael Isea said Friday, according to the state-run Bolivarian News Agency.

silverfox52 @ 18:09……Ted Butler

For years Ted Butler has been expousing the merits of the silver demand/supply shortfall as a possitive for price appreciation and hence investors. His writings have in fact influenced me in my decisions to purchase silver.

It just seems strange to me that when the above ground supplies (used to make up the short fall of mine production and recycling) are virutally depleated is almost the exact same time that mine production is great enough to satisfy demand. It just doesn’t pass my smell test. I am not a big believer in coincedences.

He also states that he thinks that investor demand is going to increase significantly and that will drive the price up significantly. My question is: If the basic shortfall of supply to demand didn’t bring the masses in as investors, why would they all of a sudden come now if the supply/demand fundimentals are becoming balanced. I am just trying to ferrit (Hi ferrit) out facts. Any comments from vertually anyone at the Tent who knows so much more than I do about this market would be appreciated.

The first marker was probably the felt tip marker, created in the 1940’s. It was mainly used for labeling and artistic applications. In 1952, Sidney Rosenthal began marketing his “Magic Marker” which consisted of a glass bottle that held ink and a wool felt wick. By 1958, marker use was becoming common, and people used it for lettering, labelling, marking packages, and creating posters.

Because the time period in question was 44 years ago … I would have been age 10 … I can’t say I know 4 sure what was used to write the messages … but as you can see from above it may have been a Magic Marker.

Sckpak……….One minor note to your silver dime post….

Not so sure that those prices were written in marker on the sign at the store.  In that time-frame one of my uncles owned a smaller grocery store.  Another uncle would make similar signs on every Saturday night.  I would many times go to his house to “help.”  He used one of those black wax pencils that you had to pull on the string and roll down the side to expose more black wax…… for the signs.  They did look a bit like marker, though.
