Darn..and here I thought I found something “unique”.  I have all of their CD’s…..tried to see them in concert in the U.S. - but I have to wait until the end of April for them to be in the my area.

Kolton - GREAT song…

@Kolton you’d be amongst a huge number of fans in OZ!

Went and saw him in Townsville last year with my Swiss girl, redneck country yet he had the audience enthralled, Check out Ocean on You Tube as well, it has had over one million hits just by word of mouth …enjoy…http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=5xZw9D9c18E

As LP says an addictive track from a truly gifted musician….

At the risk of

alienating a couple of fine folks I met in Belize who like to post youtube music videos….Cosmic Train and Augirl….I will go ahead and post one.  I am sure most will conclude I have absolutely zero taste in music..but this is one of my favorites.  It is only 4.5 minutes long..and takes about 2 minutes to get going.  If you like Eric Clapton (guitar anyway) or Reggae…you may find this off the the beaten path tune interesting…but I have had a hard time  finding anyone who likes it other than me and my 5 year old son!

Maybe some of the Aussies here will help me out…but then again..they may hate it!

You should receive a package tomorrow.  If you are there when they deliver and have the belize phone book handy…just open my package - pull out the return envelope and give it back to fedex - they may just take it back on the spot (i.e. return envelope all ready to drop off is inside the one I sent you).

I did not know you owned such a large institution (inside joke - you will figure it out tomorrow).

Irish. Good one. Cheers.

Well in Belize they will make you wear a wig if you go to court and if you have a wig on and are walking ,the taxis will pick you up for free and call you ,”Your Honor” so if you want to get the gauge of the P.M market all you have to do is come to Belize.

Just wondering where the piggies are at tonight?

I had a new television advertising experience about 55 minutes ago.

In the prime-time advertising slot at dinner hour, in the 5 minutes preceding 6:00 pm, today the Canadian Broadcasting Corp’s Newsworld channel carried an ad by Exeter Resources Corp. (XRC on the Canadian Venture Exchange and I think it trades as XRA in the US).  I get phone calls and unsolicited mail from mining companies trying to interest me in their shares, but I do not recall ever seeing an ad before from a poorly known gold/silver company advertising on prime time.  I also do not recall Exeter being a topic of conversation on Goldtent.  And we do not own any shares of Exeter.

I dont have enough hair to have to go to a barber anymore, and I have no need to take taxis anymore, so I no longer have barbers or taxi-drivers as a guage of public awareness about the PM market.  But I am wondering if this ad now appearing from a junior mining company on national television at prime time is some indication that public interest is  heating up for the junior PMs.  I would have been less surprised if this unexpected ad had been from Newmont, Barrick or Goldcorp.

Happy weekend, all.  Equiz.

GLD or CEF ?

Andy on the CEF:

Premium on CEF soaring to 11% today, its highest in YEARS (usually around 5%). I think the skepticism of GLD and SLV, per Sinclair/Norcini’s article today, is reaching a fever pitch. Wouldn’t be surprised to see the premium go to 15%-20% shortly, and for them to do yet another HUGE stock offering to buy more physical gold and silver any day now.
Go Steven Spicer!

Golden Star Response to my e-mail ….

Dear Mr. XXXXXXX

I cannot tell you how many times I have been misquoted through emails. I have actually two responses to your email questions. First, it is often the case that the press exaggerates the severity of a situation in order to make it more newsworthy. I am not in
Ghana at this time and I cannot attest whether or not the situation at Obuasi has been exaggerated or not but I can name many examples of this in other situations. Secondly, the government cleared the illegal miners from our mining concessions as we pressed released on October 31, 2006 (I attach it below for your information). We have, to the best of my knowledge, not had illegal mining activities on our mining concessions since that time due to police and governmental presence in the area.

Thanks for your question. Best regards,

I left out the October article as it has already been previously posted here a couple of times.  As far as the response is concerned …. well, I guess that’s why one gets paid big bucks …….

GLD from Midas

Dave from Denver on GLD:

Okay. So I got a few answers that are acceptable regarding the price spread between GLD and spot gold. To be sure, GLD is structured such that the spread between the price of GLD and gold widens as gold moves higher. That’s fine. But what about when I see gold up 10 bucks (yesterday) and GLD is DOWN 40 cents? Someone explain that. And someone please pretty please explain how the gold holdings in the GLD trust have remained unchanged for the last 13 days, with gold moving up price nearly $50. Statistically very improbable. The last time the holdings in GLD remained unchanged for a string of days like that was in Feb/early Mar ‘05, the fund was less than 5 months old, and gold moved down $7 from $433 to $426. The managers of GLD are asking me to believe that the money flowing in and out of GLD over the past 13 trading sessions, with high volatility and gold has essentially moved up $50 with fair amount of volatility? Something is very screwed up and either GLD is sitting on cash and not adding physical gold to help keep a lid on the price, or GLD is moving physical gold in and out of GLD to help in aid in the price suppression. Just for the record, one of the sub-custodians of the trust is the Bank of England and they are one of the designees to safekeep the bullion. Any more questions? Oh ya, one more point: anyone who owns GLD, why don’t you call up HSBC, the trustee, and ask them if you can have your tax advisor go and inspect the actual physical holdings, with receipts. According to the legal documents of GLD, they can tell you to go pound sand. I see that the esteemed Dan Norcini agrees with my view:
