No matter what happens in this crazy world we can always say that we here have been and will forever be …friends. We have fought through a selfish forum owner and reestablished ourselves here. We have stuck together through thick and thin. And ,we have developed into a quick footed fighting unit, complete with humor and seriousness. There is much to be thankful for already,no matter what gold runs to in the end. Whatever price things settle at,we will be for the most part alive and intact ,and with a little luck always in contact with each other.
As far as I am concerned I have not felt alone down here for one second. Winedoc get the coffee and oatmeal ready for a 1,000 dollar breakfast……off to the sack

Equisetum @ 21:34 pm

Sure do enjoy your occasional ‘rant’. (grin)

(Heck, somebody with at least a few brain cells still in operating mode needs to say it, speak it!!)

Television, well, I can certainly understand why some might just chuck the boob tube out the window once and for all. (Actually, have on more than one occasion myself, thought about putting a .45 round through the dang thing, if not to end it’s misery, then certainly mine…lololol)

Figure what ‘passes’ as ‘News’ these days…well? I did not know so many where that interested in following the drug abuse of some ’star’? I guess, one of the reasons, if only slightly so, I still enjoy the Shortwave radio News. Seems to be a little above the Television version. And find I am leaning more on the internet….to provide anything of substance these days.

Agree, TV still has a few redeeming qualities. Would hate to give up the Discovery Channel, The Learning Channel, The Home Improvement Channel…(grin), and would certainly miss those ’sales channels’ where it makes me feel really smart to know I paid say, 900.00 US dollars for a gold eagle, the very same item they get 1,295 for. But I agree, for the most part…..TV just another joke as it were. Will get excited if Americans ever raise the ratings on a Discovery program, say over ‘American Idol’, or one of those ’so called Reality shows’.

Figure most Americans, have about the same ‘concern’ over injesting ‘processed fake food’ as they do letting the boob tube fill thier minds, with ‘empty calories’. America, has replaced the ‘being good’ with the ‘appearance of good’. Replaced old out dated values of wealth, with ‘appearing to be wealthy’, thus the number of McMansions few can really afford, without subprime and ARM’s. Have confused transportation, with the bigger SUV. Have forsaken, even ridiculed, medical remendies that have worked for generations (Now mostly forgotten), in favor of the latest pill, that even advertises a list of ’side effects’ longer than the Constitution or even Bill of Rights. Kinda amazing, to watch all this, from a simple farm. Kinda amazing, to see what the majority will believe, fall trap too?

One might begin to think, by now, they would have come to the most simple conclusion, watching the dollar drop from 120 to 73 and change….that they would be figuring it out. “Get me the Heck” out of any fiat…and into something more substantial, more sustainable, ….something of value. But alas….it seems so few STILL understand, or know how to protect themselves.

Son and I were discusssing today. HOw it may appear the DOW, or most any other index has creeped higher year over year. Not so, when you factor in the dissolving fiat dollar. What seem to see, in higher ‘Index’s), have actually been a losing trade, when considering the falling purchase power of the once Almighty Dolla. But try explaining that to most Americans, ….if you dare….and you will be met with stares ….that only can be compared to the ‘Deer In The Headlight’…..ZOOM! Right over thier little tiny brain. (grin)

And for what’s its worth this evening, in retrospect, that damn TV was one of the reasons for my marriage problems. (Believe it or not) But in looking back to see where things started to get a little messed up, was once upon a time, I turned the TV off during dinner….(even if it was the ‘News Hour’) and would place a vase of flowers, put on a good CD…(Pavoritti or something of like kind), and actually enjoy dinner, music, and the converstaion of Farmgal. Yep, seems our problems started, when I started leaving the nightly ‘News’ on…..just wasnt quite the same quality time. Seems I should have known better. Seems, there is some music, that can take away the stress, and concerns of the day. Seems I will forever be the idiot…lol…but kinda getting used to the idea. (grin)

And to this very day, still think about putting a few bullet holes in the stupid boob tube. Course, in America (Land of the Free and Brave), I have discovered you can actually spend some time in jail for doing that. No joke!!. So, probably best just to unplug the stupid screen, and be happy, and much better informed, reading the pages of Gold Tent. So far, I dont think they can lock you up for that. (yet)

Best, and rant on my friend. Always reason to pause, and consider when you do. Farmboy

Yes, we did get taken out at 2195 today, so that left us with a break even trade, in at 2190 and out at 2195. The game isn’t over yet. We will go long again at a closing price above 2300 with a trailing stop 25 points below the day we get back in, low. Hopefully we will get a little run to the upside before we get stopped out again. The pull back found support on the top rail of our bull flag giving it more credence as a place of importance.
All the best to you stevens…Rambus

ment the taco dumpster dude

No (decent) tacos here unfortunately. But the empanadas de pino (beef) or mariscos (shellfish and/or fish) with fresh homemade pebre sauce (similar to mexico salsa) are to die for!!

ment17 (23:13) and I understand some TA suggests the 200-day moving average,

maybe even the 300-day moving average, and maybe $875 could be support levels for POG. I will watch with interest.  One never knows when there might be a mean-spirited reversion to the mean.  But then the reversion may be short-lived.  Cheers, that’s my TA for the day.  Nice evening here in our part of the Puget Sound basin !  Equiz.

rno speaking of trading YEN

RNO — I completed a round trip on a yen call option.   Bought at $625 about three months ago.  Sold at $1425.  But the same day it closed at $1800.  Then the next day,  after I sold, with only 3 days to expiration, up to $2500 or so.  Since then it went up higher briefly with only 2 days till expiration and now it is dropping off the chart.  Haven’t applied rpw or any stringent TA to date ;:~- just trendlines and shopping for the lower part of the price curve.  I’m kinda looking at May 0.99 call or June 0.98 looks ripe

POPnoBOP (22:12, 22:40)) Thanks for your comment.

Although we have never travelled to Australia, I have studied with Australian students in grad school on this continent and have met many more Australians  in different contexts, and have always felt that Canadians and Australians are indeed close cousins in their views of global affairs, even if remnants of the monarchy links were to be  severed once and for all.

Regarding your 22:12 comments about rejecting TV totally, I do not agree.  My negative comments about TV coverage are with respect to news coverage and the idiotic focus on “entertainment” topics and news about “celebrities”.  Plus I am not a TV sports fan.   However, our family has  benefitted greatly from many years of very educational TV documentaries - and I might add that some of the best have been with collaboration, or original production, involving the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.  I am very thankful for what television brings is from the British, Australian and Canadian national systems and from  PBS in the United States.  Thanks to these networks that produce educational documentaries, I have often wished that I would have access to this excellent audio-visual resource when I was teaching ecological subjects 35 to 45 years ago.  Best wishes.  Equiz

AuGirl..Byrne, the Overstock guy

I saw a documentry about him and his battle against illegal short selling. I think it was a link posted by someone here at the tent, not sure though. Anyhows, his story is in video form someplace.
