Ike, if you lost text somewhere in cybor space between writing and posting, it is possibly because your curser was not at the very bottom of the post when you click publish. If you happen to go back to edit while you are writing make sure to move your curser to the end of the post or everything following the curser when you publish will vanish.
Hope that helps,
Dusty

This says it all….for your non Bug Friends and relatives..from Midas Contribtor James Mc
Bill,
I recently saw two articles about long-term monetary value that say it all. One was about a man who, while tearing down a building on his Wisconsin farm, found deteriorated U.S. currency in a rusted box. It was stored sometime during the Great Depression. It was too degraded to spend, however he could exchange it with the Treasury one-for-one for new dollars. He ecstatically estimated there may be $17,000 or more. What the article omitted was the fact inflation had wiped out 95% of its original value. $17,000 in the 1930’s would have been a very large sum of money. It would have bought 485 OUNCES OF GOLD (at $35 an ounce). Had that person back in the 1930’s squirreled away gold instead of paper currency the current owner would instead have $431,650 (at $890 an ounce).
The other story was on the Antiques Roadshow episode which aired May 26th, 2008. A family friend’s father in Weimar Germany began collecting men’s gold rings back between WWI and WWII as a hedge against inflation. After remaining buried in a German back yard for decades the rings were dug up and brought to the U.S. by the collector’s daughter. So in effect it was the same time period as the paper dollars in Wisconsin. The Antiques Roadshow appraiser valued the rings at $4,000 for strictly melt value, but at $19,000 for the intrinsic jewelry value. This German saver protected his wealth fabulously, as just 4 or 5 ounces of gold, and as little as $200, became $19,000 almost 80 years later.
The visual evidence of choices made 70 - 90 years ago by two men are dramatic.
Visual of Fed’s goal to “keep inflation expectations well contained”…. …. Visual of barbarous relic disparaged daily by mainstream media
One man lost 95% of his wealth. The other man actually increased his wealth 25-fold (from $35 to $890), and closer to 100-fold as collectible jewelry
These are the images that bankers hate. Ben Bernanke knows for all his blustering and so-called inflation vigilance it ultimately comes down to these photos. This is the ugly truth they NEVER want the public to understand. It now takes trillions of digital dollars used to short gold derivatives to convince people a moldy pile of paper is more valuable than a timeless, beautiful investment. Someday decades in the future a rusted box will be found with modern-era FRN’s inside. My bet is they collectively will buy a cup of coffee, or not be redeemable at all. Any guesses what gold will be fetching?

2…point; it’s been over ten years since I last read it.
What I remember is that the author {Dane Rudyar, I think] was suggesting some pretty strange happenings for the late 1990s and beyond. In hindsight he was correct in a general way. I do not study astrology, so can offer no opinion on that aspect of it. If you ever see a copy please let us know what you think of it.
Grin; great chart. The up channel looks very good.
I’m wondering if we see a second test of the support in the $850 area; just as we saw a second bounce down in summer 2006. We should know in a few weeks.
From Midas Contributer Bill King…velly intellesting
From Bill King:
“Yesterday when Ben Bernanke said the US dollar is a concern for the Fed, he dispelled decades of protocol. The US Treasury Secretary used to be the only official that spoke about the dollar. In previous testimony in front of Congress, Bernanke always deferred dollar questions to the Treasury Secretary.”
I missed focusing on the significance of Bernanke’s talk re the dollar. Bill is spot on in that it is a major change in protocol and is especially crucial to market analysis for many of us in the GATA camp … in that it may mean an accelerated market manipulation effort by the Washington/New York Orwellians. The growing financial crisis in the US may be SO BAD that the powers believe they are going to have to step up to the plate as never before to keep the ship afloat.
The questions are, “Do they have the ammo and wherewithal do keep the US financial markets afloat?” “Can they mobilize enough physical gold to keep the price of gold going to where it ought to be already?”
My bet on gold is the same. They can win a battle here and there, but the cabal is on their way to losing the war. To me it is VERY telling just how little gold the European central banks are selling on a weekly basis. They are dumping their stash at a rate of 80%+ less than what their allotment is under the terms of the Washington Agreement. You would think the mainstream gold world might make a bigger deal out of this than they are. But, of course they will not, as that might draw attention to GATA’s claims that the price is being kept down (suppressed) from non-disclosed sources, like the US.
It has been 7 months are so since GATA has asked some very basic questions to the US Treasury about the status of US gold reserves. They remain silent. Think about it…
*The Treasury has stated the US gold reserves have not been mobilized in any way … that the 8300 tonnes of our reserves are sitting in our vaults around the country. That ought to take about 10 minutes for them to say so under penalty of perjury. Yet, they remain silent. What does that tell you?!?!
*We are only asking for the truth as American citizens. What gall!
Decent physical demand took the PM Fix up a bit to $883.50 in quiet gold trading.
Silver was pounded again early for steep losses ($16.56 low this morning), yet rebounded again. For the last two trading days it has been nailed, only to come back and close on its highs of the Comex trading sessions. Looks like the bears have done all the damage they can, as silver appears to be putting in a rounded bottom:

NOTE: I did not jinx us this time by saying anything positive about silver in the MIDAS title.
At some point in the weeks and months ahead, silver will explode. Perhaps all the manipulation talk in other commodities markets will shine a light on one of the real manipulations and cause some of those doing the dirty to run for the hills
