Flooding in the American Midwest threatens crops

NEWHALL, Iowa: Here, in some of the best soil in the world, the stunted stalks of Dave Timmerman’s newly planted corn are wilting in what sometimes look more like rice paddies than the plains, the sunshine glinting off of pools of collected water. Although time is running out, he has yet to plant all of his soybean crop because the waterlogged soil cannot support his footsteps, much less heavy machinery.

Timmerman’s small farm has been flooded four times in the past month by the Wildcat Creek, a tributary of the Cedar River which overflowed its banks at a record 31 feet last week, causing catastrophic damage in nearby Cedar Rapids and other eastern Iowa towns and farmsteads.

“In the lean years, we had beautiful crops but they weren’t worth much,” Timmerman said, surveying his farm, which his family has tended since his great-great-grandfather. “Now, with commodity prices sky high, mother nature is throwing us all these curve balls. I’m 42 years old and these are by far the poorest crops I’ve ever seen.”

And he added, “It’s going downhill by the day.”

As the floodwaters receded in some areas, they rose in others.

200 DMA holds so far, but very possible for some more flirting with it before the next explosion to the upside. In the meantime, GOLD’s 300 DMA continues to rise, closing today at $794.29, another All Time High.

Sinbad @ 21:05…..boy, ain’t that the truth

Dusty-thanks. Why did I not think of that?

Does this mean I can transport 199 Eagles out of the States and be under the $10 grand limit? Again, I must be a real dreamer. Confiscation first, then arrest, then indictment, then after months in jail and a fortune in legal fees, will be released never to see my property again. Been there-done that in another life.

Genepax Co Ltd has developed a water energy system

If this has been posted already..apologies. System depends on a membrane that breaks down H-O-H into O and H. The system shows promise. Appears to me if government buffoons will just stay out of the energy business, there may be hope for real innovation and progress.. Ah, but I am such a dreamer…they can’t help themselves.

Positive day

While the HUI struggled as the day wore on, I still continue to believe that we have either seen the lows in all pm vehicles or we are within a couple of days.

  Staying optimstic.

I’m currently building a system similar to what you referred to.

When a dollar is a dollar, but not really…

I never heard of this Las Vegas case, but plan to look it up. Anyone familiar with the case or any others attempting to use it as precedent?

If anyone is familiar with it, I would appreciate the citation reference to find it.

Ferret….you too…are there

half of the fuel

use in developed nations is to eat

To feed an

average family of four in the developed world uses up the equivalent

of 930 gallons of gasoline a year - just shy of the 1,070 gallons that

same family would use up each year to power their cars. Source

instead of a a catalytic converter eat less meat ..eat beans double the power lol

Sabregold….sounds like you ar involved in some exciting leading edge Alternative

….I Linked your post under Alternative Energy….

ment17, 20:12,

thank you, Sir.

ferret @ 20:06 pm on

some intelligent life finally .. and a look at the bigger picture

sabregold, adding a catalytic converter to a muffler system

reduces the fuel economy by about 5%.  There is no way that a different type of CC can improve economy by 15% to 20%.  In fact, what you describe doesn’t even sound like a CC.  Molecules moving through membranes is more an osmotic item.

The easy way to get a 30%to 40% reduction is to move everyone to Diesel.  The common rail injection system is much more efficient than the old Diesel injection pumps, which already had a 30% economy advantage over petrol engines.  Now you have small cars capable of 80mp (American) g, and even our 2.4 ton SUV returns over 25 mp (American) g and still has heaps of power if you need it (it’s a Diesel, Jim, but not as we know it).  Here is tried and tested technology, which really works and has therefore made it to commercial production.  Electric cars are next, with in-wheel motors and LiFePO4 battery packs; these are being built now.  If Delphi know how this gizmo works, why are they not building them?  Why is not someone else building them?  No patent stands in the way of production if the patent holder isn’t producing it, or developing production, themselves.

Canterell is declining, North Sea is declining, Indonesia has had to leave OPEC (’cos they are no longer exporting) Saudi is at maximum capacity,  I believe, certainly as far as refining capacity for sour crude is concerned.
