Crops are drying up faster than I can turn the sprinkler on. Aint that something. Folks up in the ‘bread basket’ looking for the nearest flotation device….and the ground here in Ga is like a parking lot at a Wal Mart (China Mart) store. Damn red clay. LOL

Crops that once looked really good….in the early/late spring, now dying for lack of water. Cant say the Good Lord aint got a sense of humor. (smile)

Figure, even if I could run the sprinklers 24/7, its so dry, it wont make much a difference. Cant help but wonder….if but a sign of things to come. Californkia burning, middle of the country drowning, fuel prices rising to levels, ……well, levels that just a year or two ago, few would have ever believed. Figure, a person would have to have a lobotomy, not to question what all is going on these days. Look no furthur than the two selected choices for President, to give reason to pause…..wonder….??…what the heck is going on??

The Tent might get a little ‘prissy’ from time to time. I might even decide to ‘throw a good drunk’…(heaven forbid) …but I have no doubts, that the greater of minds, will question, offer suggestions,….(egos none the less), but rather listen to the wisdom of this group, than most anything else I can think of. Yep.

natured and edgy debates!!! I’ve waffled back and forth on the inflate/deflate spectrum for months. And to some it makes a huge difference. I found myself today running numbers that said, hey, if its deflation, that means I can do this. If its inflation, it means I can do this.

Does what Claptona say mean we have to drop everything and try to spread the word to ignorant idiots who can’t tie their financial shoes, much less indicate a willingness to listen to the likes of Tent folks? Plenty of time to connect with the oddball who is open to listening and thinking. Got a couple of those myself But getting prepared, Plan B, relo or stay, farm, stockpile, whatever. All that info has been shared, distributed, debated, etc etc etc. Do we really need to cover that ground over and over?

We need these “spats” to keep us from losing our minds. But it does help, every now and then, for someone like Claptona to come along and remind us to keep our good natures about us and not lose our heads over debating the number of angels dancing on a pin. See? We all have these rolls at different times to play.

Let the good times roll, baby!!! If this is the long promised move, I can see the AWG repellent coming soon…..

If that post was worth about 2 cents, here’s one worth a penny. (copper of course) I agree with all you said, but…..but…..yep the but- one thing I don’t agree with. You said, “deflation inflation, who the hell cares right now?”

I, for one really care and am really concerned about it. I am watching my main asset (my home) depreceiate while everything that I consume is inflating. It is a tight vice getting tighter by the day. I think joe6pk and susie suv are all in the same boat. Trying to understand and discussing these issues is paramount if we want to survive and come out the other side with any simblence of the lifestyle we have all became accustomed to.

Trying to understand how ‘it’ all came about even with 20/20 hindsight is a challenge, not to mention looking forward and trying to see where it is going to take us all. I just hope all the great minds here will try to make an effort to stick to the issues. These times are very trying and we need all the input presented in an objective way that we can get.

Just signed in and your post the first thing I read tonight. Greetings, I remember your handle from some time ago. Hope all is well.

Looking forward to reading a day or two of posts….Sounds like a few have ‘agreed’ to ‘disagree’ on a few topics…ie…Inflation Vs Deflation. I say…(not that I know a dang thing you understand…(smile)….but I think we can see both cases proven right. The things like home values, wages….decreasing, while things we need to live, ala, food, fuel,..insurance, health costs, all rise. Kinda a double wammy so to speak.

The times, they are indeed ‘a’changin’, and the way I figure it, not all that much for the better.

Seems, all in all, there is great wisdom to be found at the Tent. Great folks, large minds, all sharing thoughts, ……thoughts and opinions worthy of respect, and demanding of our own time and research. Simple me…..after all these years, still seems to boil down to the simplest of ideas, concepts, of value. Precious….ya either got it or not. (smile) Funny, how I can deduce the most complex financial crisis in the world, to that simple dominator.

Watched a movie recently. ‘Second Hand Lions’ I think was the titile. Had one of my all time faves….Robert Duval in it. He gave a pretty good speech in that movie….something about…knowing/trusting in ‘Belief’. A good flick to rent/purchase….if one has not seen it.

Best to you this evening. Keep the challenge to all of us alive, and up front & Center. This place was born of great ideas, thought provoking statements. This place continues to give birth, to the best of the best. Have no doubts, ever, about it. And…..have no doubts, that in the end, when things get even tougher….there will always be a goldbug, or goldbuggerette, to stand along side. Seen it, too many times, to ever think different.

Claptona the internet is a tough place to communicate. Without the face to face a lot of comments can get misconstrued. I think most here have the same core beliefs and that is the most important thing. We have traders and buy and holders. Me I’m content to hold the physical only right now. I’ll leave the trading gains to the likes of ment. LOL. Yeah I think the 1970’s will prove to be child’s play compared to what we face but my concern is for my kids not me.

I second that motion-not about you being of the wall etc. All the other fine points you made.

  You know my brother introduced me to this site, and I am really impressed with the intelligence here .

But, ( Yup , there is always a but) sometimes people get so far off the “gold tent” , that it is really amazing. Gold, silver, the stocks, the rationale of the reasons to hold those items. Good things to discuss. And be grown up enough to be able to disagree  on other things. Defaltion, inflation, who the hell cares right now?

The U.S.A. , as far as I can see it, is really heading to quite the abysmal state. And you guys are wasting time on spltting hairs with words? What a waste of time and energy. Talk to your neighbor, your kids, your loved ones, get them prepared. These are liable to be very dangerous times in the near future.

Harry Schultz, I have not read for years. My father used to subscribed to him in the 70’s , and I remember he was a very smart guy. He was not one to sound an alarm unless he truly believed it, and he has no reason care to hoots and a holler about anyone else, he has the money and know how to survive. He is sending his notice out because he cares, as we all should, about others. Isn’t that what this is all about?

Or is it about egos? Who’s gotta be right, and therfore prove everyone else has to be wrong?  Me, me me - that’s one of the things that got us where we are at today. Selfishness and selfcenteredness - not the way of the Tent , me thinks. Bury the hard feelings, work together to prepare for what is coming down the pike.

I think the 70’s will be considered a walk in the park compared to what is going to happen in the years to come. This is only the beginning of some very ugly events, I think. That is where our concern should be - what should/can we do to preotect ourselves and the people we care for?

Or, maybe I’m completely off the wall here and should just not post.

Up until recently I thought the ‘flation debate was all an academic exercise and there’s nothing that I’d do differently but I’m not so sure anymore. Obviously in a credit crises the large cap PM miners that are self financing will do very well like Homestake during the depression. But what about the juniors that depend on financing, Does anyone know what happened to them during the depression?

Last week I sold some of my PM shares as this is the end of our financial year in Oz and I sold them for a tax loss, usually in the past whenever I’ve done that I buy back in immediately but this time I’m not.
