Revised Numbers - Huge Institution Holdership! 12-Jul-08 09:10 pm After I original post, some one posted other numbers obtained from other sources. Looks like the latest institution holdership is even higher than I originally thought.

Now the combined Norilsk/Institution/Insider ownership of SWC has exceeded the total shares outstanding. The total is now 101.852% of outstanding shares.

That means even if EVERY retail longs sell their shares, the shorts still can not buy enough shares to cover their shorts!!!

Let me list the break down numbers and cite where I got the numbers:

The break down is:

Norilsk: 49.813222M shares

Institutions: 45.74M shares
(from www.shortsqueeze.com/?symbol=swc)
(from finance.yahoo.com/q/ks?s=SWC)

Insiders: 1.399497M shares
(Tally up finance.yahoo.com/q/ir?s=SWC)

SWC total outstanding shares: 92.778887M shares
(From www.shortsqueeze.com/?symbol=swc)

The total of Norilsk+Institution+Insiders is now 96.953M shares, exceeding the total outstanding shares of 92.778887M shares by a large margin. It’s 104.5% of total shares available.

The short interests at the end of June stands at 9.177500M shares. Based on these numbers I deduct that total retail ownership of SWC is only 5M shares.

Even if each and every retails longs, including me, sell all the SWC shares they own, and institutions buy not a single share, the shorts still have 4.1771M shares to cover.

A gigantic short squeeze at certain time point is all but assured.

The instititution holdership in SWC last year was around 37M, much less than what it is now. I neer thought it possible for institutions to squeeze and own up to 45.74M shares, with Norilsk owning the majority stake.

Does anybody have a chart of Gold and the Dow plotted separately on the same chart from the 1929 period.  At least a couple years both before and after 1929 would be best.  I think this chart will bear out that the cycles in Gold versus the Dow were the “same” in the 1970’s period and the 1929 deflation.  If so, the only main difference is the “dollar effect”, but it makes no difference in terms of investment decisions…………..

..Why is the U S Dollar Index a true measure of the value of the US Dollar ?

..It only includes 7 of the hundreds of currencies…( Zimbabwe’s not one of them)

look at the volume in oil and in gold and silver. the oil market can absorb all that fiat without completely locking up (or down). the gold and silver market would virtually explode if that much fiat were thrown at the pm.
